I’ve been doing a deep dive into Jordan Peterson’s Bible lectures. Today I heard him explain the significance of the story of Noah and the Flood:
The flood is coming. You will be faced with tragedy. You will develop a terminal illness. If not you, then your family member. How will you face the inevitable reality? Prepare yourself.
The lecture was given in 2017. Listening to it now feels like a prophecy. But in reality Peterson was predicting the inevitable. I happen to be the lucky *** who happened to have been born fifty years after the holocaust, three years after the fall of the iron curtain, to two parents in the United States.
Is there anyone left who thinks that life as we know it is rapidly transforming into something new, a new unknown all of us will have to deal with?
So I try to summon up some courage, try to stand up straight with my shoulders back, as I face the coming flood.
